natural colourings

I just spotted lots of lovely bread flours in Asda, but more importantly, a whole range of natural food colourings, and writing icing, own brand, really good price, and it means I can now do funky bright coloured icing on fairy cakes for the girls, and they can do the age old icing on cookies/dig bikkies crafting! Yay! Well done Asda! They also do their own brand colas without Aspartame, tho most did contain Acesulfame K, which I avoid also. It's a start!

save money, save waste, save time!

I've challenged myself to stick to a weekly budget, and throw out less, and use up more.

I try to feed our whole family good nutritious food mostly cooked from scratch with as little cost as possible. We're not freaks, we do eat junk, we don't eat enough fruit or veg, and some of us are really fussy, tho not really the kids! I want to share my weekly menu plans because I know there are people looking for this info! Share back and it's even nicer! The challenge is to keep the supermarket shop down below £50 a week, feeding 3 kids and 2-3 adults, without too much deprivation, but staying healthy and yummy!

I do have an overstocked larder which needs managing, but otherwise I shop once a week usually in Sainsburys, for ethical reasons, or online with Ocado for time-saving reasons.

We like to buy organic where we can, where it matters if possible, because we care about our food, to pass the ethics on, and because it usually tastes better too.

I'm sharing my challenge to force myself to stick to it, and because I believe my efforts might help someone else in a similar situation, and I'm hoping people will get generous and share back!
